RRB ALP and Technician Recruitment 2019
Railway Recruitment Board has come up with bumper vacancies for the post of Assistant Locomotive Pilot (ALP) and various technicians. There are 26502 vacancies across 16 zones of railway recruitment Board.

Important dates:
Date of publishing advertisement: 03 Feb 2019
End date of online application: 05 Mar 2019 up to 23 : 59 hrs.
Tentative date for computer based test (CBT) First stage: April - May 2019

Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility related to age and education will be described over here. As RRB has made relaxation of two years to Unreserved category candidates as well. The lower and upper age limit indicated in the vacancy table will be calculated as on 01.07.2019.

Educational Qualification:
Candidates should have the Educational/Technical qualifications indicated for notified posts from recognized Institute/University as on the closing date for submission of the ONLINE application i.e. 5th March 2019. Those awaiting results of the final examination of the prescribed educational/technical qualification SHOULD NOT apply. Diploma/Degree in Engineering will not be accepted in lieu of course completed Act Apprenticeship / ITI for the post of Technicians unless otherwise specified. Graduate Act Apprentice will not be accepted in lieu of Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA).

Pay Scale:
Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs. 19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.

Application fees and payment details:
Application fees for Candidates belonging to Unreserved and OBC category: Rs. 500*
Application fees for Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWDs/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class/ Ex- serviceman: Rs. 250**
This application fee is subject to refund is the candidate has given the examination.

*Rs. 400 will be refunded if candidate has given the exam.
**Rs. 250 will be refunded if candidate has given the exam.

Mode of payment:
Payment could be made either (A) Online or (B) Offline.

(A) Online: Online payment can be done through internet banking/ ATM/ debit card/ credit card.
(B) Offline: Offline payment can be through:
        I. SBI Bank Challan Payment mode closes on 12.03.2019 at 13.00 Hrs in any branch of SBI.
        II. Post Office Challan Payment mode closes on 10.03.2019 at 13.00 Hrs in any branch of computerized Post Office.

Document Verification
 
Based on the performance of candidates in Part A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For Technician posts) and based on the performance of candidates in both Part A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer Based AT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For ALP), candidates shall be called for Document Verification.
 
Medical Standards:
 
The candidates called for Document verification will have to meet the following medical standards.

Note- Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractory error are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A1, B1 and B2.

How to Apply for RRB ALP and Technician posts:
Candidates must ensure the following things while filling up the online form.

A. Candidate Photograph in color: JPEG image of size 20 to 50KB.
B. SC/ST Certificate (Only for candidates seeking free travel pass): JPEG image of size 50 to 100KB.
C. Scribe Photograph in color (Wherever applicable): JPEG image of size 20 to 50KB.

Steps for online application-
  • Go through the official website of respective RRB Zone  and click on Recruitment option.
  • A link for online application will be displayed.
  • Click on the " New Registration link".
  • Fill the details carefully and apply for the desired post before submitting.
  • A Registration number and password will be displayed on the screen.
  • Login again using the same registration number and password
  • Fill the relevant details very carefully.
  • Make the application fee payment through net banking/ debit card/ credit card/ e-challan/ pay-in-slip payable any bank .
  • Now affix your passport sized photograph and signature along with left-hand thumb impression, also copy the declaration.
  • Scan the filled template as per the format.
  • Submit the application form and keep a copy of it for further use.

EXAM PATTERN


Here, we have mentioned the full exam pattern of RRB ALP & Technician 2019 Exam. There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT. 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.

Recruitment Process:
The recruitment process consists of First stage CBT, Second stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test and Document Verification as applicable.

1) First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician)

Duration: 60 Minutes
Number of Questions: 75

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories:

UR 40%
OBC 30%
SC 30%
ST 25%
 
 
These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
 
2) Second Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician)
Normalized marks of the first stage CBT shall be used for short listing the candidates for second stage CBT.

The Second Stage CBT shall have two parts i.e. Part A and Part B as detailed below:

The marks scored in Part A alone shall be used for short listing of candidates for further stages of recruitment process subject to the condition that the candidate is securing qualifying marks in Part B.

Total Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes (for Part A and Part B together)

PART A
Duration: 90 Minutes
Number of Questions: 100

PART B
Duration: 60 Minutes

Qualifying Marks: 35 %

Part B of second stage CBT is qualifying in nature.
Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade.

Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC(10+2). The trade syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website. The relevant trades for various engineering disciplines/HSC (10+2) for appearing in the Part B of second stage CBT is given below:

3) Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for ALP)

Qualifying marks: The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.

The ALP merit list will be drawn only from among the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.
 
Candidates are advised to visit website of RDSO (www.rdso.indianrailways.gov.in -> Directorates -> Psycho Technical Directorate -> Candidates Corner) for question patterns and other details of Aptitude Test.
 
Negative Marking: There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT equivalent to 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer.

There shall be no negative marking for Computer based aptitude test.
